TENSION BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY AND THE NYPD IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH, NOT ONLY FOR BROWNSVILLE, NEW YORK BUT FOR COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE NATION. AS A RESULT THE NYPD HAVE COMMISSIONED TEACHERS AND STUDENTS FROM PRATT INSTITUTE TO ASSIST IN CREATING A “NEW FRONT DOOR”. AS A CLASS, WE HAVE WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE COMMUNITY AND NYPD TO DESIGN A COMMUNITY PAVILION THAT MEETS THE NEEDS OFTHE NEIGHBORHOOD AND THAT OF THE NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT.
