MANY MULTISTORY APARTMENT COMPLEXES USE DUPLICATION AND STACKING TO MAXIMIZE PROFIT. MAKING THE SPACE AN APARTMENT, NOT A HOME. WITHOUT A PERSONAL AND UNIQUE CONNECTION THE IDEA OF HIGH RISE LIVING CONTINUES TO FALL SHORT TO SUBURBIA. MOREOVER, AS LAND DISSIPATES BUILDING UP IS NECESSARY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE. IT IS WITH THIS IDEA THAT I GENERATED THE DESIGN FOR THE “BUILDABLE FUTURE” PROJECT. COLLABORATING THE EFFICIENCY OF HIGH RISE LIVING AND THE IDEALS OF SUBURBIA.
THIS MULTISTORY RESIDENCE LOCATED IN HAMBURG, GERMANY IS A SMALL SCALE PROJECT IN TERMS OF SUSTAINABLE DESIGN. HOWEVER, THE BUILDING BLOCK APPROACH USED CAN EASILY TRANSLATE INTO A LARGER SCALE. FURTHERMORE, THIS SIX STORY COMPLEX FEATURES TWO OCCUPIABLE ROOFSCAPES, FIVE UNITS AND TWO COMMERCIAL SPACES.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PROJECT BEGAN WITH A SERIES OF CONCEPTUAL PARTI MODELS. WHERE I EXPLORED EFFICIENTLY STACKING DIFFERENT SIZE BOXES TO CREATE AN ARRAY OF UNIQUE SPACES. ULTIMATELY INFORMING THE “BUILDABLE FUTURE” PROJECT.
